Franco Girolami handed “public service” penalty for Race 2 incident

Comtoyou Racing’s Franco Girolami has been penalised for the incident of FIA WTCR Race 2 at Jeddah that saw the Argentinian driver taking out two of his competitors.

Engstler Motorsport’s Attila Tassi led the race with BRC Racing Team’s Nicky Catsburg in second place.

Girolami was looking for a way past and out-braked himself, collecting both Catsburg and Tassi. The three drivers had to retire from the race due to the sustained damage.

The stewards have found Girolami responsible for the incident and, as the event at Jeddah was the last WTCR race weekend, have decided to penalise the Argentinian with one day of public service.
