Néstor Girolami sent to the back of the grid after fuel issue

Münnich Motorsport’s Néstor Girolami had a day to forget on Saturday in Jeddah ahead of the final rounds of the WTCR era.

After struggling to qualify in twelfth place for both races, the Argentinean received a penalty and will now start from the back.

Girolami lacked pace aboard his Honda Civic Type R TCR on Saturday, struggling throughout the qualifying session and then parking his car on track during his in-lap due after running out of fuel.

The stewards ruled that, after the qualifying session, Girolami didn’t have the minimum amount of fuel required for scrutineering, thus cancelling all his lap times from the session.

Consequently, Girolami will start both races from the 15th and final spot of the grid.
