Menu leads the way in Free Practice 1 at Porto

Alain Menu was the first driver under 2:07 of the weekend, setting the pace at the Circuito da Boavista, with just one tenth of a second covering the top three.

The rest of the top three were his Chevrolet team-mates Yvan Muller and Rob Huff, with the times plummeting thanks in part to the cooler and overcast conditions at the Porto circuit.

Tom Coronel was the next best in fourth place in his ROAL Motorsport BMW 320 TC, half a second down on the leading Chevrolet Cruze.

Tiago Monteiro was the fastest SUNRED driver at his home track in fifth, setting a quick lap at the end of the session to knock his Swiss team-mate Fredy Barth down to sixth place, who ended up as the leading independent driver.

Stefano D’Aste was the leading independent BMW in seventh, just ahead of Zengö Motorsport driver Norbert Michelisz.

It was a good session for SUNRED Engineering, with four of their five 1.6 turbo powered Leóns in the top ten.

Free Practice 2 gets underway at 12:00 local time with qualifying at 15:00.
