Medhi Bennani re-signs with Proteam Racing

Proteam Racing have confirmed Mehdi Bennani will drive one of their two cars in the 2012 FIA World Touring Car Championship.
“We are very pleased to keep Mehdi in the team and we expect a further improvement in his performance after the positive season last year,” said Team Principal Marco Guiducci.

The 28-year-old Moroccan is going to drive a BMW 320 TC for the team this season, as he did last year. Bennani finished 16th overall and seventh in the Yokohama Independents’ Trophy for Proteam Racing in 2011.

The team is scheduled to start testing next month and the team plan to reveal their second driver shortly. Last year the team’s other two drivers were Javier Villa in a turbocharged BMW and Fabio Fabiani in an older normally aspirated car.
