Chevrolet’s Rob Huff was fastest of all at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia ahead of this afternoon’s pole sitter and team-mate Yvan Muller, with Norbert Michelisz completing the top three.
Huff’s fastest time of a 1:43.554 in the cool conditions put him at the top of the time sheets early on, despite being one of two drivers to receive a warning for cutting the first corner.
Norbert Michelisz was the best placed independent driver in third and the fastest of the BMWs, whilst Gabriele Tarquini was the fastest of the SEAT drivers in fifth, seven tenths of a second down on Huff’s time.
James Nash was the other driver to receive a warning for missing the apex of Turn 1 in the Arena Motorsport Ford Focus. Nash went on to end up seventh fastest at the end of the session with team-mate Tom Chilton in ninth.
The 15 minute session was incident free, although Pepe Oriola set only four laps in his SUNRED-run SEAT León WTCC and didn’t set a competitive time on track.
The first race of the day takes place at 14:35 CET.
