Lada Sport completed a test day at French track Magny-Cours last week with James Thompson behind the wheel.
“I found the car much better then in Hungary, it was more balanced and more reliable,” said Thompson.
The test was in preparation for the FIA World Touring Car Championship round at Portimão, the second appearance for Lada this year.
“The team did a great job to improve the car through a number of small and big changes. We are very happy with the test results; the car looks very fast and reliable and now it’s much more drivable for James. It’s difficult to say how fast we can be compared to other competitors, but we hope for some good results,” said Max Maximenko, Team Manager of Lada Sport.
Lada’s first WTCC race of 2012 in Hungary resulted in two retired races, but nonetheless a lot of gathered data.
“During our first race weekend in Hungary we collected a lot of information about the car and the improvements it needs. After when came back to our workshop in Magny-Cours we have worked on new suspension parts, fit a new and more powerful steering pump and made a full engine inspection,” said Maximenko.
