Felice Tedeschi to take no further part this weekend

Felice Tedeschi’s WTCC debut lasted 24 minutes at Sonoma Raceway, with the 50-year-old Italian crashing out heavily at Turn 4 and wrecking Proteam Racing’s BMW 320 TC.

Tedeschi was struggling to keep up with the rest of the field in his first race in an international level championship since Mugello last year when he raced with the Roma Racing Team in their Mercedes C63 AMG.

The Italian spun three times at Turn 2 before his crash in the test session with six minutes to go, sliding out the rear of his BMW and hitting the wall, rolling and causing irreparable damage to the car.

The session was red flagged and never resumed, leaving the youngest top three session result in WTCC history with Alex MacDowall (21) fastest, Pepe Oriola (18) second and Fernando Monje (19) third.

Proteam Racing have now withdrawn the #48 car leaving just Moroccan Mehdi Bennani to represent the team this weekend.
