Stefano D’Aste on top in wet Monza warm-up

Stefano D’Aste emerged the fastest with his new team, setting the fastest time in wet conditions at Monza in the BMW 320 TC. Rob Huff, who will start both of today’s races from 22nd place, was joint-second fastest with Pepe Oriola.

The times were over 20 seconds slower than yesterday’s qualifying times as the rain continues to fall at Monza and is forecast to for the remainder of the day.

Many drivers had various offs, with René Münnich’s SEAT and Charles Ng’s Engstler BMW going off at the second Lesmo, Darryl O’Young, Tom Chilton, Yvan Muller and Gabriele Tarquini making use of the escape road at Della Roggia, and Pepe Oriola and Franz Engstler taking the shortcut at Turn 1.

Only 21 cars took part in the session with Jean-Phillippe Dayraut not taking part and the two Ladas having been withdrawn after the damage in qualifying yesterday.

The first race gets underway at 15:05 CET.
