RML fined for technical infringement on Yvan Muller’s car

The RML team have been fined 3,000 EUR with a further 10,000 EUR suspended to the next race after a technical irregularity was discovered with pole-sitter Yvan Muller’s car in scrutineering.

The car has been found to be running with the reverse gear ratio of the previous homologation variant of the Chevrolet Cruze 1.6T, but this is not in compliance with the current specification, which was investigated yesterday evening along with the incident in qualifying which yielded no penalties.

The FIA have decided to impose a 3,000 EUR fine on the team for the transgression and a further 10,000 EUR fine is suspended, with the car required to conform to its homologation at the next round in Sonoma, USA. Muller will therefore still start from pole position for race one and tenth on the grid for race two in today’s two races at Termas de Río Hondo.
