Citroën confirm López test, but no decision due soon

Citroën Racing have confirmed that José María López will join them for a test next week at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia with their new C-Elysée test car, but that López is one of a number of drivers they’re evaluating.

The French manufacturer, which signed triple World Touring Car champion Yvan Muller last month to join Sébastien Loeb at the team next year, are now evaluating a number of options for a third driver next season.

“We are looking at entering a third car in the 2014 calendar next to Seb’s and Yvan’s,” Citroën Racing team principal Yves Matton told TouringCarTimes.

“The final decision should be made later this year, however if this happened the driver would not be announced before beginning of next year,” he added.

“We will test various drivers from different backgrounds, countries etc. Lopez is one of them to start in Valencia, but we could have another one on some other tests. This is still very open.”
