Citroën to run a fourth car in the Asian rounds of 2014

Citroën Racing have confirmed at the launch of their rally and touring car programmes at their HQ in Versailles, that they will campaign a fourth Citroën C-Elysée during the Asian portion of the calendar for an as-yet undisclosed Chinese driver.

Alongside the long-awaited announcement that Argentinian driver José María López will be joining Yvan Muller and Sébastien Loeb at the French squad, it was confirmed by Citroën’s marketing director Arnaud de Lamothe that they will also field a fourth car in the final three rounds of the season for a Chinese driver, the identity of which the team are not ready to announce yet.

At the announcement of Citroën Racing’s entry into the WTCC at Porto earlier this year, Team Principal Yves Matton had said that the manufacturer’s intention was for former Formula One driver Robert Kubica to compete in selected rounds of the 2014 season, bringing his circuit knowledge to the team, but the Polish driver’s departure to the M-Sport World Rally Team last week has offered Citroën a different option for the use of their fourth car, which won’t need to be ready until the first Asian round at Shanghai on October 12th.
