Rob Huff to compete in selected rounds of the 2014 USCC

2012 FIA World Touring Car champion Rob Huff will add to his expanded programme outside of the WTCC next year, driving for Starworks Motorsport in four rounds of the inaugural United SportsCar Championship, competing at Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen and the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.

The 34-year-old, who won this year’s WTCC season finale at Macau for independent squad Münnich Motorsport and will now join Lada for a two-year works programme, will now also compete in the USCC for Starworks Motorsport, an extension of his racing programme beyond touring cars and into endurance racing.

Huff won the 25 Hours of Thunderhill earlier this month, driving a Rotek Racing run Audi TT-RS with Robb Holland, and next week joins his Münnich Motorsport team-mates René Münnich and Marc Basseng behind the wheel of their GT3-spec Mercedes SLS AMG in the Dubai 24 Hours.

“It’s really exciting to be joining Starworks Motorsport for its 2014 TUDOR USCC campaign and I believe prototype sportscars will compliment my full-time efforts in the FIA WTCC perfectly,” said Huff.

“I’m looking forward to pitting myself against such a vast mix of world-renowned drivers from the highest echelons of single-seater and sportscar racing – it will provide me with a real benchmark for my own performances – and it will be particularly as part of the newly-unified Grand-Am and American Le Mans championships – the USCC – which has massive potential.”
