Bamboo Engineering to take 2014 sabbatical

Bamboo Engineering has announced it will be taking a sabbatical from the 2014 World Touring Car Championship.

Richard Coleman, Bamboo Engineering’s Chief Executive officer issued the following statement about the decision: “Regretfully we won’t be competing in the WTCC this season.

“It was too difficult for us to raise the required budget to compete at the very front of the grid and Bamboo is about going forward.

Coleman added the team is working towards a return to the series for 2015.

“We will actively seek the right circumstances for our return in 2015.

“The WTCC has a very bright future, and I know first hand how much progress is being made.”

Series promoter, Eurosport Events, said it is working closely with Bamboo to bring the team back and that it enjoyed its time working with the outfit.

“As the championship promoter, we really enjoyed our relationship with Bamboo Engineering,” said Eurosport Events Motorsport Development Director, François Ribeiro. “We will be working closely with them to bring this team back on WTCC at the TC1 level they aim.”

Bamboo will announce its 2014 racing programmes imminently.
