Tom Coronel will miss the French round of the WTCC

It’s been confirmed that Tom Coronel will be forced to miss this weekend’s round of the FIA World Touring Car Championship due to the substantial damage his car sustained during the first lap crash in race two at Marrakech.

The team’s car is en route to Le Castellet, from there it will be sent back to RML’s base in Wellingborough, England, where it will be repaired for the third round of the Championship on May 4th in Hungary.

Coronel’s withdrawal means 18 cars will be present at the first event in France since 2009, down two from Morocco, with just one SEAT León being entered by Campos Racing for John Filippi, with their other car currently being entered on a race-by-race basis.

Honda are at the circuit and are working on Gabriele Tarquini’s damaged Honda Civic WTCC, with the engine currently being fitted to the team’s spare shell, on target to repair the car before the first test session at 12:30 CET on Friday.
