Dušan Borković delighted after duel with rally legend Loeb

Campos Racing’s Dušan Borković suffered a mixed weekend in France, as with most of the Chevrolet teams, struggled with the wet conditions with no testing in those conditions in the TC1 class car, but enjoyed a hard battle with Citroën’s Sébastien Loeb in race two, slowing the Frenchman’s charge through the field from 17th.

“The first race was awful. I had a lot of problems with the set-up and with oversteering,” said Borković “After which I started to have gearshift problems.”

“Fortunately the second race was great. I was fighting hard in-spite the set-up not being perfect.

“(For) half of the race Loeb was behind me, he was chasing me. It is a great feeling to be in front of the world’s best race car driver and knowing he can’t pass you. But I decided to let him pass me thinking he would hit the next driver and lose his position so I could overtake them both. However I was not able to do it. ”

“I am very pleased because I fought hard and got into the top 10 in the WTCC again.”

Borković now sits in ninth in the drivers’ standings after France, one point behind Proteam’s Mehdi Bennani and one ahead of Zengõ driver Norbert Michelisz.
