Peugeot secure front row for Buenos Aires 200km

Néstor Girolami and Mauro Giallombardo have secured pole position for the 200km race for Peugeot Lo Jack Racing, leading a two car Peugeot front row lockout with Agustín Canapino and Rafael Morgestern qualifying in second position.

Girolami’s time of 1:19.562 was over a quarter of a second up on his team-mate’s, with Mariano Werner and Daniel Serra qualifying third in the Equipo Petronas Fiat Linea.

The top Chevrolet was that of Franco Vivian and Alain Menu in fourth, with Matías Rossi and Gabriel Ponce de León qualifying fifth, just over half a second down on Girolami’s time in their all-new Toyota Corolla, introduced for the first time this weekend.

Championship leader Norberto Fontana, sharing his car with Mariano Altuna this weekend, was the second fastest of the Chevrolet Cruzes in sixth, while the Fiat Lineas of Facundo Ardusso/Caca Bueno and Christian Ledesma/Matías Russo were seventh and eighth.

Facundo Chapur and Lucas Benamo were ninth in their Peugeot Junior Team 408, with Fabian Yannantuoni and Martín Basso the fastest of the Renault Lo Jack Team cars in tenth, just over a second slower than the pole position time of Girolami and the final car to make the third part of qualifying.

The race starts at 12:30 local time tomorrow (17:30 CET) and runs for 59 laps or 75 minutes.
