Agustín Canapino wins at San Juan Villicum to close in on points lead

Agustín Canapino of Chevrolet YPF won the Super TC2000 round at the San Juan Villicum circuit ahead of Julián Santero (Toyota Gazoo Racing) and Leonel Pernía (Renault).

Franco Vivian (Toyota) and Facundo Ardusso (Honda) started from the front row ahead of Canapino and his Chevrolet team-mate Bernardo Llaver.

The start of the race saw no changes at the top until Canapino passed Ardusso for second on lap three.

Shortly after, Canapino used the push-to-pass function to overtake Vivian for the lead. Santero also followed past Vivian, having made his way past Ardusso for third a lap before.

Toyota driver Vivian continued to drop down the order as the race progressed, finishing tenth.

Points leader Pernía started from the third row of the grid made his way up to third position early in the race. He could however not match the pace of the leading duo of Canapino and Santero.

Canapino took the chequered flag first, just eight tenths ahead of Santero who had, unsuccessfully, tried a couple of times to get past towards the end of the race.

Pernía completed the podium just over ten seconds behind. Llaver and Toyota driver Nicolás Moscardini finished rounded off the top five.

Pernía leads the standings on 155 points, followed by Canapino on 154 and Santero on 113.

The next Super TC2000 round takes place at Rosario on October 9-10.
