Circuit Moulay El Hassan to become a permanent track

Work has begun at the Circuit Moulay El Hassan track in Marrakech, Morocco, to make the street track a permanent circuit, as Jalil Nekmouche ,the President of the Moroccan ASN, confirmed to FIA President Jean Todt during the Formula One Italian Grand Prix.

The pit lane, garages and paddock will all be moved within the track, therefore allowing the closure of the track to public access. Nekmouche confirmed the start of the project with the aim of making it operational in time for the 2015 WTCC Race of Morocco.

“The goal is to be ready for next year with the new structures, in time to host the WTCC. The layout of the track will remain the same, but with this project we are going to make it a permanent track,” he said to Omnicorse.it.

The initiative has been taken to try to promote local racing activities in Morocco.
