Néstor Girolami tops qualifying session at Termas de Río Hondo

Peugeot Lo Jack Team driver Néstor Girolami topped the time sheets in the qualifying session for the tenth round of the 2014 Argentinian Super TC 2000 Championship at Termas de Río Hondo in his Peugeot 408, setting a time of 1:48.966, almost four-tenths of a second clear of his closest rival Christian Ledesma in the Fiat.

Girolami, who has a comfortable points lead heading into the final three meetings of the season of 23 points over Equipo YPF Chevrolet driver Norberto Fontana, was uncatchable in qualifying and will now move on to the qualifying heats which start at 9:15 local time on Sunday which will set the grid for the main race at 12:40 ART.

Julián Santero was third fastest in the Peugeot Junior 408, just over half a second behind his team-mate, with Fabian Yannantuoni the fourth fastest driver for the Renault Lo Jack team in the V8 powered Renault Fluence.

Reigning champion Matías Rossi, who currently sits ninth in this year’s standings in a tough year for Toyota Team Argentina, was fifth fastest in the new Toyota Corolla, while Damian Fineschi ensured their were three Peugeots in the top ten with the sixth fastest time.

Emiliano Spataro (Renault), Facundo Ardusso (Fiat), Bernardo Llaver (Toyota) and Esteban Guerrieri (Toyota) completed the top ten in qualifying, with Guerrieri just over a second down on the 4.8km circuit.
