Norbert Michelisz aiming for a win after podium result

Norbert Michelisz completed a very good day for Honda by taking his Civic to fourth in the first race and to the podium in the second heat. The Hungarian was happy, but felt he could have done more.

“I knew it was such an important event for us as this is Honda’s home race,” said Michelisz. “I would have liked to repeat the feat from last year because I won here in 2013, but it just wasn’t possible today. Last year was a very special moment for me, so I can imagine how Gabriele feels after his win.”

Michelisz continued by saying how happy he is with Honda’s results this weekend:”I’m so happy for all of us, we did a huge amount of work in the summer and our car is improving step by step and I’m glad it’s showing in the results.”

Despite his happiness with the podium, the Hungarian is still aiming for a race win:”To be honest, as happy as I can be for this podium finish, I’m still looking for a win. That was the goal I set myself to at the beginning of the season and it hasn’t come yet, so I will try my best to achieve that in Macau.”

Speaking of his contact with Dusan Borkovic’s Chevrolet on the first lap, Michelisz told TouringCarTimes:”I tried my best so early in the race because I wanted to be in a position where tactically I could cover Gabriele [Tarquini]’s tail if needed, so I gave it my shot but unfortunately it didn’t work. I am still happy with my podium finish, but Macau is now going to be my last chance to score a win and I will try to do more than my best to achieve that.”

Speaking of a possible factory drive for next year, the Hungarian was elusive:”To be honest I don’t know if that will be possible. The way things look at the moment it will all stay as it is in 2015, they have two very good and experienced drivers in Tiago [Monteiro] and Gabriele [Tarquini], so we will have to wait and see. I am happy with my team and we are improving all the time, so let’s see what the future brings.”

Norbert Michelisz is fifth in the championship, just 5 points shy of stable-mate Tiago Monteiro.
