Lada Sport optimistic after tough race debut with Vesta model

Lada Sport experienced a tough debut for the new Vesta model with high temperatures and fierce racing in the 2015 FIA World Touring Car Championship season opener in Argentina.

”We came here without really having the benefit of race information and data on the new cars and were always treating the meeting as an extended test,” said team manager Victor Shapovalov.

Drivers James Thompson and Rob Huff showed strong form by qualifying tenth and eleventh respectively. Both drivers fought in the top ten of the first race, but were eliminated due to incidents with other drivers. Despite the grim race results, team manager Shapovalov heads from Argentina with a positive feeling ahead of the coming races.

”We now have a better idea of where we are against our rivals and the news is good – the Vesta has the speed to be competitive, now we must work on the fine tuning and the reliability to make it into a contender when we take the grid in Marrakech,” said Shapovalov.
