Christian Ledesma back as winner after last lap pitstop

Christian Ledesma won the Super TC2000 race at Termas de Río Hondo, his first victory for five years, after completing his final mandatory pitstop on the very last lap.
”This is more than I dreamt for. The strategy was great. We risked a lot but we managed to win and to win with this team is priceless for me,” said Ledesma.

The Renault Sport driver was in charge of the race but had to rely on his mechanics performing a perfect final pit stop in order for him to keep his lead. The strategy succeeded with Ledesma crossing the finishing line just over three seconds ahead of Toyota driver Rafael Morgenstern in second place.

Fiat Petronas driver Facundo Chapur, who was fastest in yesterday’s qualifying, finished third and keeps the championship lead thanks to the podium finish.

Chapur’s closest competitor in the championship is Toyota Team Argentina driver Matias Rossi who finished fourth in the race, close to 12 seconds from race winner Ledesma.

José Manuel Urcera made it two Fiats in the top five, with Peugeot 408 driver Lucas Benamo in sixth position.

Chapur heads the championship on 72 points, with Rossi in second position on 70 points and Agustin Canapino, who only managed 12th position in the race today, in third on 53 points.

Super TC2000 continues on June 28th at Rafaela.
