Nico Lapierre excluded from Race 1 in Shanghai

Lada Sport Rosneft driver Nicolas Lapierre has been excluded from the results of the WTCC Race 1 in Shanghai earlier this morning, after a technical infringement was found in his Vesta WTCC.

The French driver, competing in his only second ever weekend in the WTCC, had survived a chaotic race to finish in seventh position, scoring valuable points for the team.

Post race technical scruteneering checks found that the turbo in the Vesta’s engine exceeded the 2.5 bar limit, with the stewards excluding the French driver from the final results.

The decision promotes Tiago Monteiro, Hugo Valente, Stefano D’Aste and Ma Qing Hua, who go up a position in the final classification, with Citroën’s Chinese driver now scoring the final point.
