José María López on top in morning test in Vallelunga (photos)

Two-time champion José María López was fastest of all in the first half of the day in Vallelunga, driving the new liveried Citroën C-Elysée WTCC.

There are nine cars taking part in the first day of testing, with Honda having brought one updated Civic WTCC with all three drivers Norbert Michelisz, Tiago Monteiro and Rob Huff driving.

Polestar Cyan Racing are also at the Vallelunga circuit, with drivers Thed Björk and Fredrik Ekblom in their two Volvo S60s, while two privateer Chevrolets are in attendance with John Filippi for Campos Racing and René Münnich with his own race team.

Citroën have four cars present at the test, with Sébastien Loeb Racing running three cars for Tom Chilton, Mehdi Bennani and Grégoire Demoustier, while Yvan Muller and José María López are sharing the factory run C-Elysée.

The test continues from 1pm CET to 6pm CET.
