Citroën lose MAC3 victory due to track limits infringement

Citroën Racing have lost their MAC3 victory in the third round of the World Touring Car Championship at the Hungaroring following a track limits breach by Sébastien Loeb Racing driver Mehdi Bennani during the post-qualifying event, handing Honda the victory.

Bennani was judged by the stewards to have exceed the track limits at Turn 11 on the first lap, and so he has been handed a 30-second penalty. With all cars required to set a time within 15 seconds of the leading car of each manufacturer, it’s likely Citroën will lose all the points from MAC3, but this is still to be confirmed.

Hugo Valente has also been given a 30-second penalty due to a jump start in Lada Sport’s heat, which means Honda could be the only manufacturer to score points, elevating them to 15 points ahead of Citroën in the manufacturers’ table, subject to confirmation by the FIA.
