Honda win Nürburgring MAC3 time trial from Citroën

Honda have won the first one-lap MAC3 event of the season at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, with Citroën forced to back off due to a fuelling error at the end of the lap.

Lada were unable to take part following a crash in qualifying for Hugo Valente, with Honda therefore the first to set-off in the MAC3 team pursuit event, which for this event was reduced to one lap and featured a staggered start instead of allowing the teams to have the whole lap to themselves.

Honda won the event with a combined time of 8:47.920, with Citroën finishing 1.564 seconds behind after the French manufacturer instructed José María López to slow down at the end of the lap as they were worried about the fuel load aboard the Argentinian’s Citroën, as he was set to fall below the mandatory minimum required for scrutineering.

As a result Honda pick up ten points in the manufacturers’ championship and close to 43 points from Citroën in the provisional standings.
