All Honda Civics cleared in scrutineering checks at the Nürburgring

All of the Hondas entered for this weekend’s round of the World Touring Car Championship have passed scrutineering checks at the Nürburgring Nordschelife, meaning the team will not be excluded from the results from Germany and then provisionally reinstated subject to the result of their appeal in respect of their exclusion previous two race meetings.

Following Thursday night’s stewards’ investigation, which concluded that the flat floor used by Honda in Hungary and Morocco was not compliant and excluded the Japanese manufacturer from both races, the team chose to retrofit an earlier specification of floor to the cars of Rob Huff, Tiago Monteiro, Norbert Michelisz and the privateer entry of Ferenc Ficza, which passed post-qualifying scrutineering checks as well as Saturday’s post-race checks.

The team issued a statement on Friday asserting their belief that the floor used in Hungary and Morocco was compliant with the regulations, and have lodged their intention to appeal against the decision, only switching back to the older specification as a precaution this weekend.

Norbert Michelisz picked up two podium results for the team with third and second in the two races, while Rob Huff scored a pair of fourth place finishes.

Tiago Monteiro, who remains second in the championship despite a disastrous weekend, was leading the race until a puncture eliminated him on the final lap of the opening race.
