Honda and Lada get weight break for Moscow Raceway

Honda and Lada will both benefit from the latest calculations of compensation weight by the FIA for the next round of the World Touring Car Championship in Russia.

While the championship leading Citroëns will all carry 80kg for the sixth time this year, the Honda Civics will drop to their lowest weight since Slovakia based on their performances in the last three events in Hungary, Morocco and Germany, with the average lap time of the best two Civics calculated as being half a second off the pace of the best two Citroëns.

The Civics of the three factory drivers Rob Huff, Tiago Monteiro and Norbert Michelisz will therefore carry just 30kg of compensation weight, bringing the minimum weight of their cars down to 1,130kg, from 1,140kg during the last two events.

The three factory Lada Vesta WTCCs of Gabriele Tarquini, Hugo Valente and Nicky Catsburg will also benefit from the FIA’s latest calculations and drop to 20kg of compensation weight at the manufacturer’s home race.

The two Polestar Cyan Racing Volvo S60s and the privateer Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1s will all carry no ballast, with the cars all judged to be more than a second from the leading pace of the Citroën C-Elysées.
