Daniel Nagy cleared to start the race despite penalty

Zengő Motorsport’s Daniel Nagy will make his first World Touring Car Championship start on Sunday from the back of the grid at Vila Real in his Honda Civic, even though the 18-year-old Hungarian had all his times deleted for missing the weighbridge.

Nagy set his first competitive laps of the weekend in qualifying, lapping the circuit with a time of 2:08.851, 12 seconds off the pace and three seconds outside of the 107% time based on Yvan Muller’s Q1 time of 1:56.900.

The Hungarian then had all of his times deleted after he failed to stop for a scrutineering check, but the team have been given permission to start the race from the back of the grid at the stewards’ discretion.
