José María López to start from the back of the grid for the opening race

Citroën Racing’s José María López will start from the back of the grid for the opening race at Termas de Río Hondo, relinquishing his reversed grid spot of tenth due to a penalty after changing the engine on his Citroën C-Elysée WTCC.

The Argentinian was fastest of all in qualifying and will start the main race from pole position, as the engine change penalty only applies to the next race in which the competitor takes part.

López will be the third driver to take an engine change penalty at Termas de Río Hondo, along with the Zengo Honda of Daniel Nagy and the Lada of Gabriele Tarquini, who will line-up ahead of him on the grid, with López starting his home race from 18th on the grid.
