Honda take sixth MAC3 win in China, as Citroën fail to start

Honda have taken their sixth MAC3 victory of the 2016 WTCC season, as Citroën had to forfeit their run with Mehdi Bennani’s Citroën C-Elysée WTCC failing to make the start.

The three Ladas went first and set a time of 3:49.398, before the Hondas set off and recorded a time three-tenths of a second faster after the Lada team lost time in the middle of their run after they opted to swap positions.

However, Citroën Racing were unable to take the fight to Honda when Mehdi Bennani’s Citroën experienced a throttle problem on his outlap, and without a third car, the French manufacturer were unable to take part in the event with Yvan Muller and José María López bringing their cars back to the pits, leaving Honda with an easy win and ten points in the manufacturers’ championship, with Lada taking eight points for second, and Citroën unable to score.
