Citroën enter the Super TC 2000 with Esteban Guerrieri

Citroën has announced it will enter the Argentinian Super TC 2000 Championship in 2017, signing Esteban Guerrieri from Toyota to their team. Guerrieri will be joined by José-Manuel Urcera and rookie Martín Moggia, all driving the marque’s new C4 Lounge S touring car.

The programme comes as the French manufacturer introduces the new C4 Lounge S into motorsport just as the road version arrives in the country.

Citroën will continue to compete in the Turismo Nacional series in 2017 in Class 3.

The PSG16 Team will be in charge of the technical side of the programme. Javier Ciabattari and Alberto Scarazzini are the technical directors of the team which won the title in 2012 with José María López in a privateer Ford Focus, before becoming the oficial programme of Fiat Petronas.

“These last days have been amazing, we’ve signed the agreement and I’ll be part of the Citroen Total Racing,” said Moggia to TouringCarTimes. “I’m very happy to continue working with PSG16 Team, the ones who I’ve been with this season. Also, it’s great to have Esteban Guerrieri as a team-mate”, added. The 19-year-old won the 2015 Argentinian Formula Renault 2.0 Championship, and will battle for the TC2000 title next weekend in Paraná.

Meanwhile, Guerrieri spoke to TouringCarTimes.com, and said: “We’re in the first steps of developing of the racing car. Once it’s built, we’ll go on track. I’m very confident in the C4 Lounge S. We want to be competitive from the very first race”.

On his team-mates, Guerrieri commented: “I have two great drivers in the team, and also, the technical staff are amazing. If we join that to a lot of work from Citroen Argentina, on and off of the track, things can only go well. It’s a whole new beginning for me, I’m leaving Toyota on good terms”.
