16-car entry confirmed for 2017 WTCC season

The World Touring Car Championship will field a 16-car full-season entry for the 2017 season.

Honda Racing Team JAS will as previously announced run three cars, with Tiago Monteiro and Norbert Michelisz joined by Ryo Michigami, who replaces Rob Huff at the squad.

Polestar Cyan Racing expand to three cars this year, and already confirmed their driver line-up of Thed Björk, Néstor Girolami and Nicky Catsburg two weeks’ ago, with four-time champion Yvan Muller also announced as the team’s test and development driver.

Sébastien Loeb Racing will run three Citroën C-Elysée WTCCs as last year, with Tom Chilton and Mehdi Bennani now joined by John Filippi, who effectively replaces Grégoire Demoustier.

Münnich Motorsport will field one car for Rob Huff, who rejoins the team with which he raced in 2013, now running the exact Citroën C-Elysée which Yvan Muller raced last season.

ROAL Motorsport will be back with their Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Tom Coronel, who, along with Huff, enters his 13th season in the championship.

Zengő Motorsport will field a pair of Honda Civic WTCCs, one for newcomer Aurélien Panis and one for Hungarian Daniel Nagy.

Campos Racing will field a single Chevrolet Cruze as last year, which for the start of the year will be driven by Argentina’s Esteban Guerrieri, with former driver John Filippi now having joined SLR.

RC Motorsport will make their WTCC debut with two ex-factory Lada Vestas, with Yann Ehrlacher already confirmed as the team’s first driver, with the young Frenchman third fastest in today’s test, with the team yet to confirm their second driver.
