Agustín Canapino claims pole for Race 2 at Rosario

Chevrolet Agustín Canapino led the qualifying session for the second feature race at Rosario. Canapino was followed by yesterday’s race winner Facundo Ardusso in his Renault Fluence, with Matías Rossi third in the Toyota Corolla.

The field was split into two halves again for Qualifying 1, with the first half led by Renault driver Ignacio Julián with a time of 59.526, followed by Citroën’s Esteban Guerrieri and Chevrolet’s Facundo Conta.

In the second half of Q1, it was Toyota driver Matías Rossi who led the way with a faster time of 59.380, with the Renault Fluence of Leonel Pernía second fastest.

Key names to fall after Q1 included the Renault of Emiliano Spataro, the Toyota of Gabriel Ponce de León and Citroën’s Juan Manual Urcera.

Chevrolet driver Manual Mallo was fastest in the first part of Q2, with Renault’s Luis José Di Palma second and Facundo Chapur third fastest in the repaired Peugeot 408.

In the second part, Race 1 pole-sitter and winner Facundo Ardusso went out and set the new lap record with a time of 59.115, progressing into Q3.

Ardusso was unable to replicate this time in Q3 however, with Chevrolet’s Agustín Canapino setting the best time of 59.241, with Ardusso having to settle for second, just over two-tenths behind.

Rossi was third fastest for Toyota, just 0.001 ahead of Damián Fineschi’s RAM Racing Ford Focus, with Renault’s Ignacio Julián fifth quickest.

The second feature race of the weekend is scheduled for 12:20 ART.
