Chevrolet customer cars in 2006?

Chevrolet could introduce customer race cars in 2006. The team that builds the current WTCC cars for Chevrolet, RML, are interested in building customer chassies. “We are aiming to make customer cars avalible. Just where they would go, I don´t know. That depends on individual countries and marketing decisions.”

“We are certainly expecting to see more of these cars competing in 2006. The car is eligible for the BTCC and I think it would be compettetive,” RML team boss Ray Mallock said.

Other than the British series the Swedish Touring Car Championship could also be of interest for Chevrolet. “We have not made a decision on this subject yet but Ray will be in a position to supply customer cars. It´s way too early to say if there will be any support (from Chevrolet) in individual countries. We will have to see their reaction to the WTCC programme, which remains the primary focus,” Chevrolet Europe Motorsport Manager Eric Néve said.
