Marc Hennerici to drive a BMW
22-year old Marc Hennerici will drive a Wiechers-Sport BMW 320i in the 2005 FIA World Touring Car Championship. Winner of the 2003 German Alfa Cup, Hennerici moved last year to Touring Cars, emerging as the best rookie in the German Produktionswagen Meisterschaft.
Already at the whell of a BMW run by Wiechers-Sport, Hennerici was a contender in the title fight thanks to a consistent series of results, including six podiums.
During the last week Hennerici took part in a Ford Hotfiel Sport test in Silverstone, but eventually signed with his old team. “I’m glad to continue driving a BMW,” he said. “During the 2004 DPM and in Macau, I have experienced the trustworthiness and technical competence of Wiechers-Sport. Without their team manager Thomas Schiemann, my third place in the 2003 Macau Guia Race would not have been possible. I would also like to thank Motorsport Management Koblenz, which are making it possible for me to take part in the most exciting Touring Car series. I’m looking forward to coming together with the best drivers in the world.”
