Monza day one

Augusto Farfus Jr. was the quickest driver of the first offical test of the year at Monza. But the attention was pointed somewhere else today, namely at the fifth placed man. Roberto Colciago took fifth best time in the JAS Honda Accord, beating several work drivers and teams. He was also the last of five drivers making it under two minutes around the Italian track.

While Alfa Romeo managed to take the top spot BMW came not far behind in second and third place. Jörg and Dirk Müller lapped only one and three tenths behind Farfus. Rickard Rydell was best SEAT-driver in eight place just behind the impressive Alex Zanardi. The two new manufacturers on the grid, Chevrolet and Ford, haven´t really found the speed yet.

Alain Menu was the top Chevvy driver in 23:rd position more than four seconds behind Farfus best time. Thomas Klenke was the top Ford driver in 28:th position. It was a strong field of 30 cars including a couple of cars from both the Italian and Swedish Touring Car Championships. Testing will continue tomorrow, stay tuned for comments from the drivers and pictures. Ofcourse there will be times from the testing tomorrow as well.
