Agony over driving standards
Gabriele Tarquini is one of many drivers that are unhappy with the driving standards in the recent WTCC premiere. Tarquini was pushed off the track by BMW driver Dirk Müller and was not happy. “I am not happy because I was ahead. There was a little space on the inside and he pushed me off. It was a big contact,” Gabriele explained.
There was further incidents that Tarquini was involved in with Dirk Müller. The Italian was pushed on to the grass in the fast corner Curva Grande. “If they do not penalise contact like this, it´s going to be a war out there,” Tarquini said. The BMW driver was penalised but will only suffer from it if he repeats it in the two coming WTCC race.
Tarquini was not the only driver to suffer from hard driving. SEAT man Rickard Rydell was pushed off the track and in to the tyre barriers by Alfa Romeo man Augusto Farfus Jr. “Coming in to the Ascari Augusto Farfus came on the inside and gave me a push. That corner is quick and hard to overtake in, so I got surprised,” a disapointed Rydell said.
Another Swede that also got his race ended too early was Carl Rosenblad that got his BMW modified from behind, see the picture below. “He drove straight in to the back of my car with completely locked wheels. I was surprised as I just overtook him and thought he pitted. With at least 60-70 km/h more than me he demolished my rear end. Not chance for the mechanics to repair it and my weekend was over,” Rosenblad said.
