New engine for JAS-Honda

In an extremely competitive championship like the FIA WTCC, Independent teams have to struggle to keep on the pace with those backed by the Manufacturers. However, some of them are proving that is possible to fight for the points even without a factory support.

JAS Motorsport have little budget if compared to their strongest competitors, but in spite of this the team’s competence and passion, joint to the capacity of the drivers and the potential of the Honda Accord, might soon create a surprise.

In the second race at Magny-Cours Roberto Colciago was running consistently in the top-ten, fighting for the point positions with four works drivers (SEAT’s Rydell and Terting, Alfa Romeo’s Giovanardi and Thompson). His dream of scoring points vanished with only three laps to go.

“In the attempt of overtaking him, Rydell sent Roberto into a spin. And after the race he came to apologise,” revealed team principal Alessandro Mariani, adding: “We are rather happy of the performances of the car so far. We are struggling for the lack of testing, but we are now working on developing new parts for transmission and suspension. Soon we will also have a new engine, that will be tested on the bench from next week.”
