Tarquini takes pole
Gabriele Tarquini took pole position today at Silverstone. Gabriele led a Alfa Romeo 1-2-3 clearly showing that the 20 kilos reduction for FWD cars have changed things.
Thompson was second with Giovanardi third. Thompson was only 0.016 seconds behind Tarquini making it really tight in the top. In fact, 12 cars were within the same second during this qualifying session.
Best non-Alfa was champion Andy Priaulx taking fourth 0.2 seconds slower than Tarquini. SEAT-newcomer Peter Terting took fifth place, impressively out pacing both regular SEAT-drivers Rickard Rydell (eight) and Jordi Gené (ninth) as well as Jason Plato (seventh) who makes a guest apperance in this race. Plato usually drives for SEAT in the BTCC.
Stay tuned for the two races tomorrow!
