Ford stays for 2006

Ford will most likely remain in the WTCC next year. The recent WTCC round at Oschersleben Ford made good progress. Michael Funke was on the way to the points when a puncture stopped him, and he was fastest in both free practice sessions before the race.

“Oschersleben gave an indication of the potential of the car and now we need to confirm it. We never intended to join the series for just one year and now we need to start planning to see how we go on,” Ford Europe motorsport boss Jost Capito said.

Though Ford rules out an eventual official Ford works team. The intention is still from Ford to supply privateer teams with cars.
