€ 350,000 in prize money

Prize money for the Independent drivers in the 2006 FIA World Touring Car Championship will total again to € 350,000. The prize money will be awarded to the drivers entered in the Yokohama Independents Trophy. At each race meeting, a total of 35,000 euro will be awarded to the top eight Independent drivers, classified by adding together the points obtained in the two races:

€ 12,000 to the first driver
€ 8,000 to the second driver
€ 5,000 to the third driver
€ 3,000 to the fourth driver
€ 2,000 to the fifth driver
€ 2,000 to the sixth driver
€ 2,000 to the seventh driver
€ 1,000 to the eighth driver

The point scoring system will be the same as the FIA WTCC: 10 pts to the 1st, 8 to the 2nd, 6 to the 3rd, 5 to the 4th, 3 to the 6th, 2 to the 7th and 1 to the 8th; however, double points will be awarded in the the two races of the final meeting.

Previous winners of the Independents Trophy were Carly Motors’s Duncan Huisman and Tom Coronel in the 2003 and 2004 FIA European Touring Car Championship respectively, while Wiechers Sport’s Marc Hennerici won the trophy in last year’s FIA WTCC.
