Priaulx victorious at Monza

Reigning world champion Andy Priaulx has claimed the victory in the first race of the 2006 season at Monza. The BMW driver came home first in front of new comer Yvan Müller, who finished just ahead of teammate James Thompson, after having a long battle with Dirk Müler.

Early victims in the race were Stefano Tavano and Jörg Müller. After just a couple of laps Colciago and Edman followed with a big accident, bringing out the safety car for a couple of laps.

After the safety car had left the track Priaulx could cruise home to his first victory of the year. Yvan Muller was not able to be any threat to Priaulx after passing Dirk Müller.
