Changes to the Puebla circuit
Following the requests from the FIA Circuits Commission, the P Miguel E. Abed circuit underwent a number of changes in the first portion of the track. The left-handed corner at the end of the main straight does not lead any longer to the infield; on the contrary it is followed by two right-handed corner leading to the South banking, which was not in use last year.
Drivers will therefore race on the oval until the opposite straight, from where a 90-degree left-handed corner leads into the infield part.
These changed have been conceived in order to reduce risks of dramatic crashes that last year forced Jörg Müller’s BMW and Adriano De Micheli’s Honda out of the event fter free practice.
Further to the changes, lap distance has increased from 3.13 to 3.36 km.
After having been shown the new map, all the drivers have judged the changes in a positive way.
