Will WTCC run in Turkey?
The recent Formula One race in Turkey has caused problems for the WTCC. Due to a controversial prize ceremony FIA is considering to ban Turkey from hosting any FIA recognized events. The next WTCC race is held in Turkey and there has been some concerns if the coming WTCC race will be cancelled.
But that would mean alot of problems for the WTCC-teams as many of the cars and equipment will be at the track when an eventual decision comes. WTCC-press officer Fabio Ravaioli comments on the matter:
“I would say that to 95%’s certainty we will do the race. As many of the teams will be in place it would be to much of a cost for FIA and all of the teams,” Ravaioli said.
On the preliminary WTCC calendar for 2007 Turkey is listed to host one of the races. But that race is more likely to be removed. Stay tuned for more information on the matter.
