Alfa Romeo to run diesel 147

Alfa Romeo is planning to run diesel powered cars in the World Touring Car Championship next year. According to Autosport all details are set for their return next year with a full programme. The smaller 147 model is to be used, and to be run with both petrol and diesel.

The rules allowing diesel powered cars were introduced in 2004, but since then no manufacturer used it. Alfa Romeo is reported to be preparing four petrol 147 and two diesel 147’s. Currently the Italian manufacturer is building the cars by them selves. But regular Alfa Romeo tuners N-Technology could be enlisted again to prepare the cars.

N-Technology ran the works Alfa Romeos in WTCC until this year when the Italian manufacturer decided to take a year off.
