Maurer Motorsport to WTCC 2007?
The German team Maurer Motorsport could move to the World Touring Car Championship next year. This season Maurer ran two Chevrolet Lacetti in Germany and took the title with Vincent Rademecker. The team made a guest appearance in the WTCC at Valencia where Rademecker matched the pace of the works Chevrolets.
The plan for next year is to continue with their 2005 spec’ cars as no 2006 spec’ cars are available. Maurer Motorsport has done their own changes to the cars, such as lighter suspension and more are planned for next season.
The driving position will be changed to the left side of the car and the aerodynamics will get a work over. The team is getting some support from the WTCC works team, RML. Testing for the coming season will start in January with four test days.
Their top driver Vincent Rademecker is, according to Autosport.be, willing to continue with Maurer next season. But the Belgian has two other alternatives in form of a French team that is looking to enter the WTCC and new a Belgian team.
