Rydell predicts close finale

Rickard Rydell predicts a close four way battle for the World Touring Car Championship title 2006 between him self, Andy Priaulx, Dirk Müller and Gabriele Tarquini. Nine drivers still have a chance to take the title mathematically, but some of them are carrying a lot of penalty weight.

“Realistically, I think the fight will be between myself, Gabriele (Tarquini) Andy Priaulx and Dirk Muller,” said Rydell to Autosport.

The tight Macau-street circuit means that a lot will happen and with so many drivers with a chance for the title, Rydell finds the outcome hard to predict.

“Macau is almost impossible to predict,” he said, “so if any of the other drivers wins race one then it’s all still open.”

Rydell is confident of his own speed. He is currently six points behind the leader Augusto Farfus Jr.

“I’ve had the speed all season – three pole positions confirm that – but if you think that I couldn’t start the first race at Brno and I had a 10 place penalty in Mexico, I could have been higher in the points.”
