Andy Priaulx up for third title

Andy Priaulx for the third time in a row have the chance of taking the title of the World Touring Car Championship. Eight other drivers also have the chance, but Priaulx does not want to focus on them. Just as Rydell pointed out, Priaulx feels it is impossible to predict any outcome.

“I have looked at the different possible outcomes and there are four million possible connotations,” Priaulx told autosport.com.

“So all I can do is simplify it and look at myself. So I am not really thinking of anything else other than myself and how I can do the best job possible. But I am really positive. I feel really prepared and I am really up for it.”

The current WTCC season has been hard for Priaulx who has gone up and down in the results, much due to the penalty weight. The Brit feels that winning this season and taking a third title would mean more than his previous titles.

“Every year it means more to me than the year before,” he said. “It is weird. What made me really happy last year was not that I was a ‘world champion’ but the fact that I had done two titles in a row. Then you cannot say it is a fluke.”

“To do three in a row, especially with reverse grids and ballast where everything is designed to hold you back, I am pretty proud of that. I have got nothing to prove…I have just got my own ego to massage! I just want to do another one. I have got more motivation than ever before; I don’t know where it is coming from.”

“A lot of people are saying: ‘Are you going to move on? What are you doing next?’ Well, there is not a lot better to do than this outside of F1 or Le Mans.”

Priauxl is currently in Macau and let us know that we can’t predict anything until the qualifying. Rain is forecasted for the weekend which would make things even harder.

“It could be raining, then drying mid-session and maybe somebody doesn’t get their lap in. It sounds to me like this weekend is not going to be predictable.”
