Nothing is settled yet – Priaulx

While Rickard Rydell almost has given up with 22:nd position on the grid – Andy Priaulx, from pole position, insists that the fight is still wide open. Priaulx put up a dominating performance during qualifying, taking pole by more than one second to his closest competitor.

“No chance am I champion yet,” said Priaulx to Autosport. “I respect my competitors far too much to think that it is over. We’ll see what happens on Sunday.”

“This result is not just about me, because the team have also done a good job,” he explained. “My car felt very quick straight away and I felt very confident. I was able to do a quick time immediately, which is good for the race – and especially the first few laps.”

Dirk Müller, who will start from second spot on the grid, is another driver with a chance for the title. The German is agreeing with Priaulx on things being far from settled, but points in the direction of Augusto Farfus whom many have left out from the title predictions due to his high penalty weight.

“Everyone’s chances are still completely there,” he said. “With the races on Sunday anything can happen because there are long straights and tight corners. Farfus is seventh so is in perfect shape for the second race (eight place in the first race gives pole for the second with the reverse grid order rule). Nothing is decided yet.”
